PLAYING GRADES

Year 2 
  • Players in a team : 8
  • Game details : Saturday 8.30am -9.30am
  • Ball type : Soft ball
  • Format : 12 overs per side
  • Pitch type : Dual Pitch
  • Opponents: Against other clubs in Wellington.

Dual pitch is where two pitches are used and both teams bat and bowl at the same time so all kids are involved and there is no down time.

Year 3
  • Players in a team : 8
  • Game details : Saturday 8.30am -9.30am
  • Ball type : Soft ball
  • Format : 12 overs per side
  • Pitch type : Dual Pitch
  • Opponents: Against other clubs in Wellington.

Year 4

  • Game details : Saturday 8.30am -10.30am
  • Ball type : Soft ball
  • Format : 12 overs per side
  • Pitch type : Single Pitch (14m length)
  • Opponents: Against other clubs in Wellington.

All teams will bowl their overs from the same end to speed the game up. In year 4, players bat in pairs for a set amount of overs and dismissals will result in a loss of runs, rather than a player being dismissed.

Year 5
  • Players in a team : 8
  • Game details : Saturday 8.30am -10.30am or 11am -1pm.
  • Ball type : Hard ball
  • Format : 20 overs per side
  • Pitch type : Single Pitch (16m length)
  • Opponents: Against another club in Wellington.

In each innings, 10 overs are to be bowled consectutively from one end, before there is a change of end. The remaining 10 overs are bowled consecutively from that end in order to speed the game up.

Year 6
  • Players in a team : 8
  • Game details : Saturday 8.30am -10.30am or 11am -1pm.
  • Ball type : Hard ball
  • Format : 20 overs per side
  • Pitch type : Single Pitch (16m length)
  • Opponents: Against another club in Wellington.

Some gear is provided including a club playing shirt, and the team kit bag includes required pads and helmets that can be shared.

GIRLS Year 5-8
  • Players in a team : 8
  • Game details : Sunday 1pm -4pm
  • Ball type : Soft ball Format : 16 overs per side
  • Pitch type : Single Pitch (16m length)
  • Opponents: Against another club in Wellington.

All players bowl two overs and bat as a pair for four overs no matter how many times they are dismissed.

PLAYING FEES

Fees for the 2024/25 season

  • Years 2-7 – $120 per child
  • Years 5-8 Girls – $120 per child

GENERAL

  • Most gear is provided including a club playing shirt and a team bag.
  • Teams generally have a coached practice after school/early evening once a week. Practice venue to be confirmed.
  • There may be some Sunday play for some hardball grades in the weeks leading up to Christmas due to lack of Pitch availability.
